Fulshear Chess Classes
With Coach John Hendrick
(Classes begin January 20 at SpiderSmart in Fulshear)
Whether your child is just starting out or already an advanced player, these 15-week chess classes offer a supportive, growth-oriented environment. Coach John Hendrick, ranked 97th in Texas and teaching since 2006, will guide students through carefully tailored lessons to sharpen their thinking, strategy, and confidence on the board.

Beginner Level
Mondays, 7:15pm – 8:15pm

Who It’s For: Newcomers to chess, focusing on piece movement, board fundamentals, and simple strategies.

Skills Covered: Core tactics, how to open a game, and building confidence in friendly matches.

Intermediate/Advanced Level
Mondays, 5:15pm – 6:15pm

Who It’s For: Players with a good grasp of the basics who want to refine tactics and expand strategic planning.

Skills Covered: More complex openings, tactical drills, and in-depth problem-solving to prepare for competitive play.

Advanced/Strong Advanced Level
Mondays, 6:15pm – 7:15pm

Who It’s For: Seasoned players aiming for high-level competition and tournament success.
